This playground, Mahany Park, in Roseville has got 2 things going: 1. It's behind an awesome library. (I love libraries.) 2. It's got an adorable park that was built accessible to all children- able bodied and not.

Bobbles. i love hanging bobbles in my room. it's not 1/2 as impressive as my bestie's sister's bobble wall. but i just make like a fish and LOVE shiny things. also love juxtapoz page cut outs. I've got Killpixie, Seonna Hong, Souther Salazar and Audrey, right now. They are next to the embroidered Animal Alphabet J got me at a yard sale a few months, ago. When Bestie came back from Japan I photographed a ton of her stuff that she brought back. Mostly kawaii things. Her parents were concerned at all the squealing from her room. haha... Michelle told them, "This is why Tiffany cannot go to Japan with us." I photographed so much of her souveniers, her sister, who lived there for 7 years (?), came over to Michelle's room with two big boxes of more kawaii trinkets. Ahh, heaven. These dolls are from Michelle, for me. They are from a Japanese doll museum. I say Michelle is the one in the red, and I'm the one in the blue. They sit on my desk. Currently, they are looking at a sake nigiri replica keychain. They look like they plan to eat it. THey sit on top of a box that holds me light activated dancing chimp that Justin got me. That's another story. This is a collaborative drawing by Kale Mendonca, Daniel Mendez and me. It's uh-mate-zing!
Though I will be curating two shows, I'm not showing any work this month... to prepare for my October solo show/ Birthday show!!! My inspiration include: the use of space and dimension in Japanese wood cut art 2D floral and damasks common in Persian, Indian and Arabian ornamentation metallic lining seen in Islamic art and the usual kawaii kids I am also happy to say I finally got to read Yoshitomo Nara's interview in the September Juxtapoz. He's one of my most FAVORITE artists! If it featured more paintings from Blum&Poe, perhaps I would've bought the magazine and I'd have more art on my walls.
The clock in the student lounge was missing. So I put this, there: One of the studio labs had lots of random, hanging, bright yellow power outlets. I made one louder: Donuts make me happy: Filipino shells are nostalgic, especially over pianos: A trench I liked at Forever 21: Geurilla promotion of the live art show, MAC lab: the tickets I designed for the Invisible Children benefit concert I am taking part in: Me, my bright yellow jacket, and j in his yellow osh shirt... after seeing his cousin off on AMTRAK... very late at night but I wished we could go, too!
For my birthday I decided that after my show the night before I want to go to SF and take photos of old and colorful stuff. Also, stuff from different cultures. How fun, yea?
There were several strangers, too, that i met who said some particularly kind and uplifting things. they were impressed by the freshness of my subjects and the consistency of my theme, as well as the expandable application. I was delighted when they told me they could see children's books and Sanrio-type culture/stationary coming out of my work... because they didn't know those are actually two of my future long term goals with this project!
This time Justin volunteered to build me a structure to hang the larger canvases... so sweet of him. he did it on little sleep and between shifts and i'm so grateful to his dedication to help me achieve more in this career! besos, love!
All the lovely women who visited me... in the bottom pic, my auntie is wearing one of the first tees i ever designed, far left. steady supporters ... =) I had a few classmates come out, too. Leomel, James and Rebecca are always welcome to my shows! Very awesome feedback and great support! Also, it was amazing to see my good friend, Rani, stop by! I appreciate the efforts (hehe). I'm trying to get him to do some spoken word poetry for me at a show I am trying to organize! Also, my newspaper teacher from highschool came around... that was so funny!
When the show moved to the van after the gallery suddenly closed 2 hrs early, it was still lots of fun!
I was also really interested in what pieces spoke most to people. Fawn, Ness, Toots, Raven, my Lasagna and milk prints each had some admirers.
SOLD: Awaken Awaken had the most admirers, and she sold to the first one. I was surprised becayse I barely got feedback on that one, last time! Pieces look different with different sets, I guess! SOLD: Lovers print series CARMEN AND CARNITOR [blue framed] KRISSY AND KILLERBYTE [white framed] EMMA AND ELLIOTT [orange framed] Less foot traffic, this time, but I managed to sell all my available prints done for the new Lovers Series. They came in little, colored ornamental frames. The customers switched up the dating game and it was more like this:
CARMEN AND CARNITOR [blue framed]
KRISSY AND ELLIOTT [white frames] EMMA AND KILLERBYTE [orange frames]
Went to my student's birthday, Sunday. She turned 9. It was amazing how organized those kids were, just playing outside, a lot of them dancing and having good fun. Justin and I settled for some good food, but by the Cha Cha slide, me and my friend could not resist joining! Wall-E was on the cake, and the kids seemed happy to eat that cake while we took the floor. Then Justin and the girl's brother played COD4. Her little sister -4 years- held a controller. You know, to make her feel like she was playing. She insisted she was not afraid of the Nazi zombies featured in the bonus round. I gave in to letting her stay there, but made sure none of the other kids entered... Anyway, the celebrant got a bike and I got the reaction shots. However, my camera speed was not set well enough so they are not post-worthy (*sigh).
The 4 year old's room is covered with pink, purple and princess toys.
Had a nice little day with Justin and his cousin, Jasmine, driving around.
